Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Batter:
    • In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
    • Add the milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract to the egg mixture. Stir well.
    • Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix until smooth and lump-free.
  2. Cook on the Stovetop:
    • Heat a non-stick skillet over low heat and lightly grease it with oil or butter.
    • Pour the batter into the skillet and spread it evenly.
    • Cover the skillet with a lid to trap the heat, allowing the cake to cook evenly.
    • Cook on low heat for 12–15 minutes, or until the surface is set and bubbles appear.
  3. Flip and Finish:
    • Carefully flip the cake using a large spatula or plate, then cook the other side for an additional 3–5 minutes, or until golden brown.
  4. Serve:
    • Let the cake cool slightly before slicing.
    • Serve plain, with a dusting of powdered sugar, or with your favorite toppings like honey, jam, or whipped cream.
