Sticky Honey Garlic Chicken

Ingredients:

  • Chicken:
    • 10-12 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (cut into bite-sized pieces)
    • 1 cup cornstarch
    • 2 tsp salt
    • 1 tsp black pepper
    • 2 tsp paprika
    • 4 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Sauce:
    • 1 cup honey
    • 1/2 cup soy sauce
    • 6 tbsp garlic (minced)
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
    • 1 tbsp sesame oil
    • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
    • 2 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water for slurry)
  • Garnish:
    • 1/4 cup green onions (chopped)
    • 2 tbsp sesame seeds

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Chicken: In a large bowl, toss chicken pieces with cornstarch, salt, pepper, and paprika until evenly coated.
  2. Cook Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches for 4-5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (internal temp 165°F/75°C). Drain on paper towels.
  3. Make Sauce: In the same skillet, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, water, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  4. Thicken Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Combine: Return chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat evenly in the sauce. Cook for 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with rice or noodles.
