Ingredients:
- 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil or melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Prepare the Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add the milk, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract to the egg mixture. Stir well.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix until smooth and lump-free.
- Cook on the Stovetop:
- Heat a non-stick skillet over low heat and lightly grease it with oil or butter.
- Pour the batter into the skillet and spread it evenly.
- Cover the skillet with a lid to trap the heat, allowing the cake to cook evenly.
- Cook on low heat for 12–15 minutes, or until the surface is set and bubbles appear.
- Flip and Finish:
- Carefully flip the cake using a large spatula or plate, then cook the other side for an additional 3–5 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Serve:
- Let the cake cool slightly before slicing.
- Serve plain, with a dusting of powdered sugar, or with your favorite toppings like honey, jam, or whipped cream.
