Brazilian Cheese Bread (Pão de Queijo) Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) tapioca flour
- 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
- 1/4 cup (60ml) vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 large eggs
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Heat Wet Ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, vegetable oil, and salt. Heat over medium heat until it just starts to boil. Remove from heat.
- Mix in Tapioca Flour: Gradually add the tapioca flour to the hot liquid, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon until the dough becomes thick and sticky.
- Cool Slightly: Let the mixture cool for a few minutes, so it’s not too hot to touch.
- Incorporate Cheese and Eggs: Add the Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses to the dough and mix well. Then, add the eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated. The dough will be sticky and stretchy.
- Shape Dough: Use a spoon or your hands (lightly oiled or wet) to form 1-inch balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese bread balls are puffed up and golden on top.
- Serve: Enjoy warm as a snack or side dish. They’re perfect with coffee or tea!
